Beehive is Expanding!

At Beehive Broadband, we want to give everyone access to the fastest internet speeds and provide them with the best service. We’re excited to announce that we are expanding our fiber-optic services to nine more communities! Say goodbye to slow internet speeds and spotty connectivity, and never look back.

Expanding where?

If you live in the communities of Bothwell, Bear River City, Elwood, Howell, Mantua, Willard and the unincorporated areas of Penrose, Thatcher and South Willard: congratulations! You will soon be able to enjoy high-speed fiber internet! This will be the first time fiber internet is available in these communities, so it really is a whole new world opening up. This new expansion will make fiber internet available to over 3000 new locations, including homes, businesses, farms, ranches, community anchor institutions and other public facilities – that’s a lot of new places that get fiber internet.

Expanding how?

This expansion is due to a partnership with the Utah Broadband Center and Box Elder County to bring fiber internet to communities in the Box Elder County area. Box Elder County Government will receive $5,856,443 in grant funds to combine with $5,117,895 of matching funds to connect a high-speed fiber network to the nine new communities. That’s a lot of funds, and we’re putting them to good use.

Expanding when?

We know you’re excited, and we are too! We’re starting right away on bringing fiber internet to these communities. Beehive Broadband recently began construction in Bothwell, the first of the nine communities. The other eight are currently in the engineering and design phase. As we finish mainline construction with one community, we will move on to the next one. Main line construction should be complete in these communities within 36 months with installs taking place in phases as key sections are finished and ready to go. After mainline construction is complete, we’ll move on to the next phase of the project. This will include drop construction to individual homes, fiber splicing, and installing internet. We are excited to begin this journey to bring fiber internet where it has never been before!

Expanding why?

The internet has increasingly become a big part of our lives. We use it to work, get our news, and share funny cat videos with each other. At Beehive Broadband, we believe that you don’t need to live in a big city to have access to fast internet.

Since our founding in 1963, we have always been passionate about bringing modern telecommunications to rural areas. Before the internet, Beehive Broadband was responsible for the first hand-built long-distance telephone line from Grouse Creek to Lucin, Utah. Now, we are looking to bring high internet speeds to places where they have never been before. This new expansion helps our mission, but we’re not stopping there.
